After a winter that has been milder than most of our summers we look forward to the cricket season
with trepidation, and hope for glorious weather and no matches cancelled.
The Annual Golfing Society and Cricket Club Dinner
was a successful and delightful evening and thanks are due to the Golfing Society Secretary, Tony Green, for making all the arrangements.
The members were pleased to welcome Mr Guy, President of both the Golfing Society and the Cricket Club, and Mrs Guy.

The dates of the six-a-side Tournament have not yet been arranged.
All matches will be played at the Municipal
Sports Ground, Sedgemere Road (off Queens Road), Yardley, commencing at 6pm.
CONTACT: Autumn 1967
The 1967 season
proved to be quite a successful one for the Bank as we finished in 4th position in the League and we were runners up in the Knockout
Competition. The Bank won 5 matches, lost 4, and 2 games were rained off. One match was abandoned.
The batting improved considerably
this year; 970 runs were scored in the ten league matches, the highest being 150-5 against the Building Department and the lowest
completed score was 72-5 against M.E.B. Engineers. We beat the Rates Department, scoring 86-5 against 34 and the Town Clerk's by 58-2
against 56. Les Bellmore topped the bowling averages with 13 wickets at 10.7, Alf Young was second taking 16 wickets at an average
of 12.8 with Phil Willetts third with 15 wickets at an average of 15.5.
The six-a-side proved to be our highlight, although it
ended tragically for us with our opponents, M.E.B. Engineers, scoring the winning run off the last ball of the match. We had a bye
in the first round and in the second we beat M.E.B. Accounts, scoring 83-2 against 58. This match belonged to Philip Willetts. After
scoring 46 n.o. he then took 2 wickets for 9 runs. Ron Moll also weighed in with 2 wickets for 6 runs. With this win the team had
a Friday evening off to play in the semi-final and final.
In the semi-final against the Public Works we scored 87 to 62; Ray
Lovell scoring 32 and John Ordish taking 2 for 15. We then entered the final for only the second time ever. Batting first we scored
85-4 and when our opponents batted they needed 12 runs off the last over. To our dismay they managed to get these runs, the final
ones off the very last ball of the competition.
Naturally, the team were all disappointed, but I am sure we will wish them better
luck and perhaps go one better next year.
