After the atrocious winter, the main hope for cricketers, golfers, ramblers etc is one long, glorious
Summer. The main event for the Club, during the close season, has been the Golfing & Cricket Club Dinner where the prizes for
each section were presented by Mrs Sutherland and Mrs Raftery. The meal and company were excellent and a very pleasant evening were
enjoyed by all present. For the first time the Cricket Club had their own cup, the "Frank Kirtland Cricket Cup". This, being presented
to the Club by Mrs Kirtland and Mrs Peers, was then awarded to Mr K N Whittaker.
As a team, we look forward to a successful and
happy season and hope to welcome new members to our "ranks".
The date of the Annual General Meeting will be announced in April.

CONTACT: Autumn 1963
After a mixed start, with 2 matches won, 3 lost and 2 cancelled, the Bank finished the season with a flourish, winning the
last three matches and finished 6th in the league, scoring 128 points.
The last two matches proved particularly exciting and
gave an added 'piquancy' to the season. In the match v Direct Labour the Bank batted disastrously scoring 30 runs for the loss of
8 wkts. only to be saved by a dour, brilliant partnership of 45 between Eric Bignell (12 no) and John Ordish (28 no). The bowlers
then struck form and Direct Labour were dismissed for 44, Les Bellmore taking 6 wkts. for 11 runs. The match v Town Clerks was not
decided until the last over when the Bank won by 3 runs.
John Ordish is to be congratulated on finishing top of the batting averages
with an average of 27.0. Also to be congratulated is Ray Lovell who was the mainstay of the batting, scoring 216 runs for an average
of 21.6. The bowling honours go to Les Bellmore with 18 wkts. for 163 runs, an average of 9.06 rpw, followed by the 'skipper' Keith
Haslam with an average of 11.7 runs per wicket.
Once again many thanks to our faithful regular supporters, to the playing members,
to the paying members, to the Staff Association and to Miss Spencer and HO Secretarial Staff for their help. In all an enjoyable season.
