After losing the two opening matches this season, the Bank returned to winning ways in their match
v Treasurer's Dept. with a clear-cut victory by five wickets.
The bowling has been the disappointing feature to date, mainly
through the absence of key players rather than the shortcomings of established bowlers. With the bowlers not being in command of the
game the fielding has also been below standard. These faults should right themselves as the season progresses. It is hoped that Mr
Bellmore, who was very ill at the beginning of this year, will be pronounced fit to play again in the near future and help to ease
the situation.
The Club are pleased to welcome Mr Ordish who should strengthen the middle order of the batting.
A

A wonderful summer has meant an enjoyable few months for
cricketers and for the first time in nine seasons, not one Bank fixture was cancelled owing to rain. Hard wickets have meant a fatiguing
but enjoyable (?) season for bowlers and fielders.
The Bank finished sixth in the Evening League scoring 135 points compared
with 156 points for third position last year. In an exciting season the Bank lost 4 matches during the last over of the game - meaning
40 points lost and championship aspirations.
Mr Rogers, in only his second season with the Club, scored over 300 runs out of
843, finishing second in the Bank averages and eighth in the League placings. Mr Alsop was first in the bowling averages taking 13
wickets for an average of 10.8 rpw. Mr Eley topped the Bank batting averages scoring 133 runs for an average of 26.6
Unfortunately
two members of the Club were unable to play during the past season namely Messrs. Bellmore and Haslam. Sincere hopes for a complete
recovery and quick return to active service are conveyed to them on behalf of all Club members - especially to Mr Haslam who is still
“under doctor’s orders”.
