Portrait of J P Hilton
At a dinner held in the Assembly Hall at the Bank's Broad Street Head Office on February 28th 1935, J
P Hilton was the guest of honour. The chair was occupied by H G Wright, and during an interval, the Lord Mayor unveiled a commemoration
portrait of the Bank's first General Manager. The portrait, by John Bernard Munns, RBSA (1869-1942), was subscribed for by members
of the Bank's Staff. The portrait was later hung in the Assembly Hall, the first of a series of portraits of the Bank's General Managers.
Mr Hilton was presented with a replica of the portrait, a photograph of which is reproduced below. Also shown below is a photograph
of
the dignitaries at the presentation ceremony, and an image of the portrait on the artist's easel.
