4197 The following report of the General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Site
at Kingstanding.
Your Sub-Committee, after careful consideration recommend that the proposal to take over a site from the Estates
Department at the corner of Kings Road and Kingstanding Road should be abandoned, and that negotiations should take place with the
Water Department for the transfer of a portion of their site facing Kingstanding Road, on which a temporary building can be placed
and the business of an evening bank transacted therein. It is further recommended that the Chairman of your Committee and the General
Manager be authorised to negotiate suitable terms with the Water Department and to arrange for the provision of an evening bank as
indicated above.
Bank Committee: November 16th 1931
On Minute No 4204 (site at King's Vale), the General
Manager submitted the following report:
Site at Kings Vale.
The Water Committee have now offered to transfer a site consisting
of approximately 765 square yards of land, forming part of their Kings Vale property, to the Bank, at the price of 8/-. per square
yard.
The plan submitted herewith indicates the site which has been agreed to between the Bank and Water Committees, and shows
a frontage of 46 feet to the Kingstanding Road.
The Water Committee require the land to be fenced by the Bank on the northern
and eastern boundaries, and that the Bank should be responsible for the existing fencing on the southern boundary. With regard to
the frontage to Kingstanding Road, the Water Committee have made arrangements to erect a dwarf wall and fence along their frontage,
and it is proposed that the Bank should keep to this design in respect of the frontage of 46 feet referred to above.
The proposal
of the Bank Committee is to transfer the wood building from Pype Hayes to the above-mentioned site at Kingstanding, and the Water
Committee desire to have the option of resuming possession of the land at the same price as is paid by the Bank if it should not be
intended at a later date to erect a permanent building on the site.
The land has been inspected by Mr Frank Wilde on behalf of
the Bank, and he placed a value upon the same of 7/6d. per square yard.
4239 RESOLVED:- That subject to the confirmation
of the City Council, the offer of the Water Committee to transfer to the Bank a site of approximately 765 square yards of land (forming
part of their King's Vale property) at the price of 8/- per square yard be accepted on the following understanding:
(a) That
should the site not be required by the Bank for the erection of a permanent building at a later date, this Committee agree to the
retransfer of the site to the Water Committee at the same price per square yard.
(b) That the General Manager be authorised to
arrange in conjunction with the Secretary of the Water Department for the provision of suitable fencing round the site; and
(c)
That the Water Department be asked to make a sufficient clearing on the site to enable the erection of the wooden building proposed
to be transferred from Pype Hayes for the purpose of a Branch.
General Purposes Sub-Committee: December 21st 1931
Site at
King's Vale.
Your Sub-Committee report that the wood building has been transferred from Pype Hayes to the King's Vale site and will be ready for use as an evening branch after the Xmas holidays. They recommend that this branch be known as the Kingstanding Branch.
Bank
Committee: March 21st 1932
On Minute No 4239 the following Minute of the City Council sanctioning the transfer from the Water
Committee of the site at Kingstanding was received:
It was moved by Councillor Beale, seconded and 30,613. RESOLVED:- That the
transfer of 765 square yards of land in Kingstanding Road from the Water Committee to the Bank Committee, on the terms set out in
the foregoing report, be approved.

Transfer of Land.
Your Committee have, at the request of the
Municipal Bank Committee, transferred to that Committee an area of 765 square yards of land at the Water Department's King's Vale
property, in Kingstanding Road, for the purpose of a branch Municipal Bank. The price to be paid to the Water Department by the Bank
Committee is 8/- per square yard, and the Bank Committee will bear the cost of the erection of the necessary fences.
Your Committee
recommend that the transfer of land, as set forth above, be approved upon the terms stated.

Bank Committee: May 18th 1936
5676 The following report of the Finance and General
Purposes Sub-Committee was received:
Kingstanding Branch .
Your Sub-Committee are of opinion that, having regard to the
satisfactory development of this branch in its present position, it would be desirable to erect permanent premises on the site, and
they recommend accordingly. They propose to consider at the next meeting the question of the appointment of an Architect to prepare
a scheme, and recommendations in the matter will be submitted to your Committee in due course.
5681 RESOLVED:- That
the proposal contained in the report to take steps for the erection of permanent premises on the site acquired at Kingstanding and
to appoint an Architect to prepare a scheme, be confirmed.
Finance & General Purposes Sub-Committee: July 20th 1936
Proposed
permanent building for Kingstanding Branch.
Alternative scheme for the Branch Bank have been submitted by Mr W J Davis, Architect,
and your Sub-Committee have approved what is considered the most suitable scheme and instructed the General Manager to invite tenders
for the carrying out of the work, which is estimated to cost from £2,900 to £3,000.
5741 Plans were submitted for
the erection of a Branch Bank at Kingstanding and approval given to the plan selected by the Finance & General Purposes Sub-Committee
Bank Committee: October 19th 1936
The following report of the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Building
at Kingstanding.
Tenders have been received and opened for the proposed new building at Kingstanding and your Sub-Committee recommend
that the lowest tender received, that of Messrs E Crowder Limited, at the sum of £2,917 be accepted, and that the Town Clerk be instructed
to enter into the necessary Contract, affixing the Corporate Seal thereto.
5770 RESOLVED:- That the tender of Messrs
E Crowder Limited at the sum of £2,917 for the building of new branch premises at Kingstanding be accepted, the work to be completed
within five months, and that the Town Clerk be instructed to enter into the necessary Contract, affixing the Corporate Seal thereto.

completion of the Contract with Messrs Edgar Crowder Limited:

prepared, completed and affixed the Corporate Seal to a Contract with Edgar Crowder Ltd for the above mentioned work.

ask that the Minute be discharged.

15th 1937
On Minute No 5771 (Adjustment of boundaries - Kingstanding Branch) the following minutes of the City Council were received:
It
was moved by Mr Alderman Barrow, seconded, and Resolved: 33,162. That, subject to the approval of the Minister of Health, the proposed
transfer from the Water Committee to the Bank Committee of 205 square yards of land, and from the Bank Committee to the Water Committee
of 53 square yards of land, necessitated by the adjustment of boundaries at the Branch Bank in Kingstanding Road, and the payment
by the Bank Committee of the sum of £60. 16s. 0d. for equality of exchange, and generally on the terms set out in the foregoing report,
be approved.

The following report of the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee was presented:
Extras
on contracts for building at Kingstanding.
In consequence of the delay in authorising the Contractor to proceed with this work
after acceptance of the tender, Messrs Crowder Ltd have intimated there will be an additional charge of £85, and the Architect has
intimated that the prime cost items will be increased by £26. 16. 6.
Your Sub-Committee recommend that the payment
of these extra sums be agreed to.
5959 RESOLVED:- That the additional charges made by Messrs Crowder Ltd in respect
of the contract for the building of the Kingstanding Branch, amounting to the sum of £85, and the increase in the Prime Cost Items
of £26. 16. 6. be approved and passed for payment.
Finance & General Purposes Sub-Committee: October 18th 1937

be for 3 years from the 29th September 1937 at a rental of £50 per annum, plus rates, water charges and internal repairs, with an
option to renew for a further three years at an increased rental of £55 per annum.

Your Sub-Committee report that they have approved the sale of the wooden
structure formerly used as an evening Branch to the Perry Barr Ward Labour Party at a price of £43 including gas lamps and pendants.
