5680 RESOLVED:- That the action taken in inviting Mr J A Swan, FRIBA, to prepare and submit a scheme for the building of branch premises with flat accommodation upon the site acquired at the corner of Hagley Road West and College Road, Quinton, be confirmed.

5702 On Minute No 5616 (Purchase of land - corner of Hagley Road West and College Road, Quinton), the General Manager stated that there was a difference between the boundaries shown on the plan prepared by the City Surveyor for the Council Minutes and the plan on the Title Deeds, and he had suggested that a conference on the matter should take place between the Town Clerk, City Surveyor, General Manager and Mr Frank Wilde with the object of settling the question. The Minute was continued.

I have to report that in accordance with the above Minutes I have completed the purchase from the Executors of the Late
Joseph Clay, of land at Quinton for £900.

Proposed Permanent Building for Quinton Branch.
Your Sub-Committee have considered plans prepared by Mr Swan, Architect, for the erection of a branch bank and lock-up shop on the site acquired by the Bank at the corner of Hagley Road and College Road, Quinton.
Your Sub-Committee have approved the plans in question and have authorised the General Manager to advertise for tenders for the carrying out of the work, which is estimated to cost £3990.

The Committee proceeded to consider the question of the acceptance of a tender for the proposed building at Quinton - Councillor Cooper previously intimating that he had already disclosed his interest professionally in one of the firms tendering and would, therefore, take no part in the consideration of the matter.
The Chairman, Alderman Barrow, then reported that the Finance & General Purposes Sub-Committee had considered the tenders received for this work and recommended the acceptance of the tender of Messrs C Bryant & Son Ltd at the sum of £3,478 the work to be completed within six months.
5867 RESOLVED:- That the above mentioned tender be accepted and that the Town Clerk be instructed to prepare any necessary documents, affixing the Corporate Seal thereto.

In pursuance of this Minute, I beg to report that I have prepared, completed and affixed the Corporate Seal to a Contract with C Bryant & Son Ltd for the above mentioned work.
I accordingly ask that the Minute be discharged.

Your Sub-Committee report that the tender of Messrs C Bryant & Son Ltd amounting to £180 for the supply of counters etc at the Quinton Branch has been accepted, such tender being the lowest received.

Your Sub-Committee report that the following arrangements have been made for the letting of Bank Flats:
Retail Shop, Quinton. (835a Hagley Road West) Let to Mr A D Norton, Managing Director of W H Wilkins Ltd, Wholesale and Retail Chemists, on lease for 14 years from 29th September 1937, the rent for the first 3 years to be £65; for the next 5 years, £70 and for the last 6 years, £80. Tenant to be responsible for rates, water charges, etc, and for interior repairs.
Flat at Quinton. Let to Miss F Pearce and Miss D E Whitty, Health Visitors in the service of the Corporation. Tenancy to be for 3 years at an annual rental of £38, payable quarterly, and tenants responsible for rates, water charges and internal repairs.
