CONTACT: Summer 1978
Once again we have failed to progress beyond the first round of the Moss Cup competition. Our opponents
again this year were the South West T.S.B., and a close game was contested. Unfortunately, with six of our batsmen being run out chasing
a relatively easy total, we have only ourselves to blame for losing the match.
Our league performances so far this season have
been somewhat inconsistent. The weather has not always been conducive to good cricket and we have had some competitive and excitingly
fought games. So far it has been difficult to recognise any outstanding individual performances although this year we have been able
to take advantage of the Kerry Packer star “Ian Galloway.” This has been a great boost to the team’s morale, as, after seeing
Ian perform, many players now realise that their places in the team are quite safe.

CONTACT: Autumn 1978
After winning the Evening Cricket League title for three consecutive seasons in 1974 - 76, the last two years have been
plagued by inconsistent performances and our inability to field a full team for each match. Last year we managed to gain third place
in the league, but this year we only managed to scrape sixth position and new players are required for next year to help strengthen
the team.

In
the T.S.B. Moss Cup we were drawn against last year’s winners, South West T.S.B. South West managed to score 140-7 off the forty overs
allotted, thanks mainly to Roy Church who managed 79. The Bank managed to restrict them to this score by a good bowling performance,
of which Phil Willetts (3-23) and Bob Milne (2-37) were the stars.
The Bank seemed to have done enough to suggest that with our batting strength we would quite easily go through to the second round. Unfortunately, the team went to pieces and through poor calling and bad judgement no less than six players were run out, three at the beginning and three more near the close of the innings The Bank finished up just fifteen runs short of victory, with Ken Allen (30), Clive Brown (22) and John Mace (20) giving the only solid resistance to South West.
South West eventually went on to the final of the competition, only to lose to Leics & Notts T.S.B. The Bank
seems to be plagued with bad luck when it plays in the Moss Cup, but this year it seemed to be of our own making.
