Broad Street From Above - 1933
Opposite the Hall of Memory, and next to the Masonic Temple, the site for the BMB's new
Head Office in Broad Street is in the early
stages of construction. The Town Hall can be seen
at the top of the photograph, but Broad Street shows few signs of the proposed
Civic
Centre. Factory buildings surround the area and construction of Baskerville House
(for Council Offices) does not start until 1938.
To the west of the Bank, the brick storefronts
and workshops of Lee Longlands and W L Handley face Broad Street.
