Some of the Safe Deposit blocks removed from the strongroom have been placed in one of the former Muniment Rooms in the basement. This room has been designated as a future Heritage Centre to illustrate  both the history of the bank and the building's original use. Objects located here in August 2021 include the items identified here.

This 'security-looking' device formerly provided a secure means of access between different sections of the vaults. In the case of inability to open a principal strongroom door, these small, key-controlled tunnels provided an alternative entry route. They were fitted at a high level.

These two photographs show sections of the corridor that surrounds three sides of the basement vault that contains the cash strongroom and the safe deposit. The left image shows the door to the cash strongroom, and the right image the door to a muniment room. The mirrors at the two corners of the corridor that provide a comprehensive view of the secure area have been retained.

Accessed off the basement corridor (east side) is a very large,

well-equipped kitchen, located in the original Stationery Department.

The north side of the Banking Hall retains the Italinate balcony

from which a photograph was taken of the first visiting group.
