Shortly after the Bank's Head Office was opened in Broad Street (in 1933), two Boards listing the members of staff who gained successes
in professional examinations were erected in the Assembly Room. One Board listed the Associates of the Institute of Bankers (AIB),
the other was mainly used to list the female staff who passed Part I of the Institute of Bankers' examinations. This second Board
was removed in December 1951 following the introduction of the more relevant qualifications of the Savings Banks Institute. A new
Board replaced the Part I Board, the names of the successful female members of staff being transferred to wings of the AIB Board.
The
photograph below was taken prior to these alterations being made; it also listed four male members of staff who achieved success in
Accountancy qualifications.
